Guide to information and contact points

You haven't found an answer to your questions on our website? Then you can send your question – as well as your ideas or comments – to the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL). Due to the large number of e-mails we get, it may take some time until you receive an answer. Missing information, e.g. if you forget to enter your e-mail address, may also delay the processing of your enquiry or even make it impossible for us to respond to it.

What happens to my enquiry?

The enquiry you make via this form will automatically be sent by e-mail to the BMEL Consumer Help Desk for food, agriculture and consumer health protection issues operated on behalf of the BMEL by the Federal Office for Agriculture and Food (BLE).

You would prefer to phone, send an e-mail without filling in the form or write a letter?

The BMEL cannot provide any legal advice.

If you require legal advice, please contact a consumer advice centre or a lawyer’s office as, under the Legal Services Act, the federal ministry is not authorised to provide such assistance. It is one of the duties of the state-funded consumer advice centres (Verbraucherzentralen e.V.) to advise and inform consumers and assist them in enforcing their rights. The BMEL is not invested with powers to supervise companies or intervene in their operation.
