The number of the week

The value of agri-food goods exported from Germany last year amounted to 62.7 billion Euros.

This represents an increase in value of 4.3 percent compared with the previous year. Trade with EU partners accounted for the largest share, totalling 76 percent. Agri-food products amounting to 47.4 billion Euros were delivered to the other 27 Member States of the European Union. The EU therefore remains Germany's most important trading partner. With regard to trade with third countries, Switzerland (1.80 billion Euros), Russia (1.60 billion Euros) and the USA (1.59 billion Euros) were well ahead of other countries.

On 25 June 2014 the 6th foreign trade congress of the agri-food sector will take place. The event, which is organised by the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture in cooperation with the Federal Foreign Office and the Federation of German Food and Drink Industries, provies a unique platform for global players. Over 400 participants are expected, including high-ranking guests from industry, politics, associations, science and administration.
