Federal Minister Alois Rainer has been head of the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture since May 2025. Within the Federal Government, the Federal Minister is competent for structuring German food and agricultural policy.

Since 2002 District councillor for the district of Straubing-Bogen
2013 Elected to the German Bundestag, directly elected in the constituency of Straubing, re-elected in 2017, 2021 and 2025
2021 to 2025 Chair of the Finance Committee of the German Bundestag
